NORMAL DISTRIBUTION
OBJECTIVE:
At the end of the lesson, you must be able to:
- identify regions under the normal curve corresponding
to different standard normal values.
VOLCANO
BELL
ROLLER COASTER
MOUNTAIN
The Standard Normal Curve
- is a normal probability distribution that has a
mean(myu) = 0 and a standard deviation(sigma) = 1
STEPS on how to identify a region under
the normal curve:

1.) Draw a normal curve.

2.) Locate/plot the specified z-values.
3.) Draw a vertical line from the baseline up to the
curve that corresponds to the z-values.
4.) Shade the required region.

4. Identify the region to the left of z = 0.50

Group Activity:

Identify my

REGION
Instruction:
• Group yourselves according to your habit.
• Each group will be given a specific z-values for them
to plot and shade the region under the normal curve.
• You will be given only 5 minutes to work on
your group.
• After 5 minutes, each group must post their output
on the board and a yell of the group will be
observed before the presentation of outputs.
• One representative of each group must present
their outputs and explain.
• MUSIC Region will be the first to present, to be
followed by ART Region, DANCE Region and
SPORTS Region.

PRESENTATION OF
QUIZ:

Identify the Region of the following Z-values:

1. With z = 1.50
2. With z = -2.20
3. With z = 3.00
4. Between z = 2.00 and z = 3.00
5. To the right of z = 2.80
6. To the left of z = -1.50
7. Between z = -1.50 and z = 1.50
8. Above z = 2.00
9. Below z = 1.00
10. Between z = 2.00 and z = -1.50
ASSIGNMENT:

Research on how to compute probabilities using the

specified z-values.
Using the Z-table, compute for the area under the normal
curve:
1. Area between z = 1.20 and z = 1.40
2. Area with z = 2.20.
