WHAT IS COLLEGE DEBT?

• Money owed on a loan taken out to pay for education expenses.


• With college prices increasing the only option to pay for college is through
student loans.

• Private schools – $33,480


• Out-of-state schools- $24,930
• State resident schools – $9,650
Problems with Student Debt
PROBLEMS WITH STUDENT DEBT

• Debt is up to $1.3 trillion out of the $20 trillion debt in the U.S.
• $1.3 Trillion is 6.5% of the national debt
• 44 million people have student loans which also accumulates for the individual's who are out of school,
and those attending.
• Students are facing an ever climbing debt with each year the price of college is going up.

• The debt is divided among people with the majority of students in


college having about $10,000 to $50,000 in student debt.

• Students in debt don’t have many options which would explain why
the overall debt is increasing.

• While this is horrific to individuals currently in college there are solutions to this problem.

• Internships allow students to develop a clearer understanding of what their ideal job would be.

• Part time jobs give the individual a steady flow of income.

• According to Beth B. Hering writer for CNN, internship programs provide the individual with the ideal
opportunity for a future job.

• Some benefits of internship programs allow the student to network, establish relationships with
mentors, and the possibility of college credit or a certification.
