Management
July 29, 1841 -Nov. 19, 1925
 Henri was born in a suburb of Istanbul, Turkey in 1841.
His father, an engineer, was appointed building
supervisor for the construction of bridge over the
Golden Horn (Galata Bridge). His family returned to
Henri Fayol France in 1847. He studied mining engineering at the
Ecole Nationale Superieuere des Mines Academy in
Saint-Etienne.
Henri Fayol is claimed to be the
father of Modern Management,
he was an engineer in a mining
company and he improved the
condition of the company from
virtual bankruptcy to high
success.
From his practical experience, he developed
some techniques which he felt could be used in
management situation, irrespective of the
organizational framework which is the 14 Basic
Management principles. The Basic Principle of
management was in competition with that of
another great theoritician Frederick Taylor.

He also wrote a book entitled,
General and Industrial
Management in french that was
later on translated to English.
