2. Choice of SHS Track
• Academic Track is the predominant track choice for both students
and parents
• Majority of students who reportedly preferred non-academic tracks
have parents who reportedly preferred their children to take up the
academic track instead
• Parents rank the highest among the sources of information
• Guidance counselors rank last among information sources

Week for High School Students Effective School Year (SY) 2013-2014

In line with the goal of the K to 12 Basic Education Program to produce graduates
who are ready for higher education, middle level skills development, employment
and entrepreneurship, the Department of Education (DepEd) in collaboration with
the Career Guidance Advocacy Program-Working Group (CGAP-WG), an inter-
agency group under the President’s Human Development and Poverty Reduction
Cluster (HDPRC) issues the enclosed Guidelines on the Conduct of Career Guidance
Week for High School Students Effective School Year (SY) 2013-2014, which shall be
celebrated every last week of July.

• Aims to immerse parents and students on the realities of the labor
market and convince Career Guidance Counselors and Career
Advocates to use career guidance as an effective tool in addressing
job-skill mismatch

job-skill mismatch, eight (8) joint activities were
enrolled by the CGAP-WG in the Plan 2018 – 2022

DepEd’s Commitment to the CGAP Advocacy
Plan 2018 - 2022
• Intensify the Career Development Program though:
• Integration to the different programs and subjects;
• the Homeroom Guidance Curriculum from Kinder to Grade 12;
• establishing career advocacy and LMI corner in all public basic education institutions;
and
• capacity building of Registered Guidance Counselors and Career Advocates in
facilitating the career guidance program;
• Formulate a Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling Program from
Kinder to Grade 12;
• Establish network among all stakeholders for the career development of
learners; and
• Formulate and conduct evaluation measures to ensure the quality delivery
of the program.

Homeroom Guidance Program believes that every

student is unique and has the ability to develop
themselves using their own learning and experiences
from family, community, school and society. This shall be
realized through the collaborative efforts of school,
family, community, government, and other institutions.
Vision
Homeroom Guidance Program shall produce students
who understand themselves, respect individual
differences, are caring and responsible, can make
informed decisions, have problem-solving skills, are able
to achieve academic success and plan for their future. It
shall produce students who can work for the common
good of society while upholding the international
standards.
Mission
Homeroom Guidance Program is dedicated to
address the academic, personal/social and career
needs of the students in a developmental,
comprehensive and proactive manner.

1. Learners will understand the importance of knowledge, skills and
positive attitude helpful to daily living and their relation to life and
