The document provides instructions for creating a maquette, which is a small preliminary model used by sculptors, using various gauge wires and modeling clay, with step-by-step directions for constructing an armature with the wires and then pushing clay onto the armature to sculpt the preliminary model. Sample pictures of a completed maquette and information on real-world uses of maquettes are also included.

II. Bend the wire at the middle. Hold using a long nose or pliers an inch or less at the middle and twist the lower portion until you reach the hip III. Bend the wire to follow the alignment of the hips and leg of the wire map. Optional to bend the tip of the leg to create the feet or create a loop to serve as a stand for the maquette IV. Cut another # 16 gauge wire to create the shoulder and arms of your maquette. Follow the Wire Map and twist the end to create the hands. V. Using the # 14 wire tie and twist to connect shoulders and body. Use also the # 14 wire to loop around the entire maquette body. Instruction: Filling in the Clay • For Arm and Legs: Create log- like shape and push in the armature • For Chest and Hip: Create a squarish box and push in the armature. • For the Head: Create an egg shape and push on the head area. • For Hands: Create small circular clay and flatten at the hand area of the armature.
