present their background, skills and
accomplishments.
-a written compilation of your education, work
experience, credentials and accomplishment.
-a one or two page formal document that job
hopefuls submit to hiring managers and employment
recruiters.
Types of Resume

• Chronological Resume
• Functional Resume
• Combination Resume
• Targeted Resume
Chronological Resume
-starts by listing your work history, with the most recent position listed
first. Below your most recent job, you list your other jobs in reverse
chronological order. Employers typically prefer this type of resume
because its easy to see what jobs you have held and when you have
worked at them. This is the most common resume type.
Functional Resume
-focuses on your skills and experience, rather than on your
chronological work history. Instead of having a “work history” section at
the top of your resume, you might have a “professional experience” or
“accomplishments” section that lists various skills you have developed
over the years.
Combination Resume
-is a mix between a chronological resume and functional resume. At the
top of the resume is a list of one’s skills and qualifications. Let you detail
both your skills and experience, while also backing this up with a
chronological listing work history.
Targeted Resume
-is a resume that is customized to specifically highlight the experience
and skills you have that are relevant to the job you are applying for.
Application Letter
- is
to draw a clear connection between the job you
are seeking and your qualifications listed in the
resume. To put in another way, the letter matches the
requirements of the job with your qualifications,
emphasizing how you are right for the job.
Types of Application Letter
• Objective Letters- one type of letter says very little: it
identifies the position being sought, indicates an interest in
having an interview, and calls attention to the fact that the
resume is attached. It also mentions any other special matters
that are not include in the resume, such as date and time
when you are available to come in for an interview.
• Highlight Letters- another type of application letter, tries to
summarize the key in formation from the resume, the key
information that will emphasize that you are a good candidate
for the job. It selects the best information from the resume and
summarizes it in the letter.
