UNLOCKING DIFFICULT TERMS
Opposable – able to be placed against one or more of the
other fingers or toes on the same hand or foot
Limitations – the act of controlling the size or the extent of
something
Possibility – a chance that something might exist, happen, or
be true; the state or fact of being possible
Embody – to give a bodily form/ to represent in bodily or
material form
Spirit – the force within a person that is believed to give the
body life, energy and power

ACTIVITY: THUMB LESS LIFE
.
+ The teacher will group the class into four
+ Each group will choose two members of the group who
will pretend that their THUMBS are gone for three
minutes.
+ While in this state, the two representatives will proceed
with their normal activities while their thumbs are not
functioning (immobile).

+ The rest of the members of the group will get a piece of
paper and will divide the paper into two columns.

+ The first column will be the activities YOU CAN DO even


without your thumb.

+ The second column will be the activities YOU CANNOT DO


without your thumb.

+ The leader of the group will present the output in front of
the class.

+ Each group will be given three minutes for the activity and
two minutes for the presentation.

+ Each group will be given one question and they are task to
answer the question and also present the answer together
with their first output.

after failing to do certain activities that
you would normally do easily?

importance of a very small part of your
body, your thumb, more on this activity?

that you can do without your thumb.
Imagine that these are the only things

you still consider your activities as
“human” activities? Why?

Application and assessment
DIRECTIONS
1. The teacher will assign different activities in each group.
2. Each group will be given five minutes to prepare for their
presentation and two minutes for the actual
presentation.
3. While the first group are performing, the second group will
prepare for their comments and rating using the given
rubrics.
4. The second group will be rated by the third group and the
third group will be rated by the fourth group and lastly
the fourth group will be rated by the first group.
