    Small Bowel Cancer in Crohn's Disease Patient

    Small bowel cancer risk is 12-60 times higher in Crohn's disease patients. It usually arises from the ileocecal valve and stricture segments, and is almost always adenocarcinoma, though signet ring cell cancer is more common than in sporadic small bowel cancer cases. Diagnosis is often made after surgery for other reasons, as clinical and imaging findings can be similar to Crohn's disease features like bowel thickening, tissue adhesion, and invasion. CT findings suggestive of small bowel cancer in Crohn's patients include thickened loops, loss of wall layers, lymph node enlargement, and lack of fistula healing with medical therapy.
