during the school holidays for a

1.Langkawi

As one of Malaysia’s best-known and


most popular beach destinations, the
massive island is home to historical
attractions, great fare, excellent diving
opportunities, exciting nightlife and
dirt-cheap shopping.
The best attractions in Langkawi

landscapes, expansive parks, and
iconic structures that no first-time
visitor should skip on our travel

For a more intimate time with nature, go
trekking through the pristine rainforest that
covers most of Langkawi, or go on a boat
tour of the mangroves. There are also
opportunities to go for a dive, or play a round
of golf at some of the 5-star resorts.
Langkawi also has an underwater world, with
an underground tunnel that runs through a
giant aquarium, that has received rave
reviews.
2.Penang
Penang – a world renowned exotic
holiday destination – was known, once
upon a time, as Pulau Pinang or the
“Isle of the Betel Nut”. Listed as a
UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site
in 2008, this virgin paradise has no
shortage of cultural sights and
natural scenery.
Nicknamed the Pearl of the Orient, Penang
is famous for its soft sandy beaches and is
fondly regarded as the food capital of
Malaysia. Some of the most interesting sites
of Penang include the sandy beaches of
Tanjung Bungah, and the landscape from the
summit of Penang Hill.
3.Kota Kinabalu

Kota Kinabalu is the capital of Malaysia’s Sabah


state in north western Borneo and is commonly
referred to as KK. This coastal city is partly
surrounded by rainforest and great place to exlpore
bustling markets, with a modern boardwalk, beaches
and the waterfront Kota Kinabalu City Mosque. Kota
Kinabalu is also the gateway Kinabalu National Park
which is home to 4,095 metre high Mount Kinabalu.
Not many cities can say they are just minutes away
from sandy shores, exotic islands, virgin coral reefs,
and tropical rainforests, but Kota Kinabulu can.
4.Kuching
The capital of Sarawak, Kuching is a
fusion of modernity and tradition and is
packed with history, culture and great
eating spots. When in Kuching, don’t miss
a visit to one of the city’s most popular
attractions: the Gunung Gading National
Park. Young ones and budding botanists
will also be thrilled to catch sight of the
famously elusive Rafflesia flower (the
largest of its kind in the world) here.
5. Kota Bahru
Kota Bahru’s slower pace of life speaks of
a nostalgic time in the past, whilst its
open-air market, Pasar Besar, is a great
place to experience authentic local buzz
whilst picking out cheap, fresh produce. It
is the perfect place to escape from the
never-ending hustle and bustle of modern
metropolises, and spend some quality time
relaxing with friends or family.
6. Singapore
Known for its spotless streets, lush
greenery, diverse peoples, tasty hawker food
and spectacular skyline, Singapore is an
amazing place to experience Asian diversity.
Catch the light show at Marina Bay Sands in
the evenings, and visit Gardens by the Bay
for an unforgettable experience. Universal
Studios is a family favourite for adrenaline
junkies, and the River Safari is another fun
place for those with young animal-lovers.
7. Bali
This Indonesian island’s idyllic beaches and
turquoise sea are simply spectacular; you
just cannot go wrong with a beach vacation
to Bali. Take this opportunity to get in touch
with your spiritual side amidst all that beauty
by picking up some yoga techniques at one
of the island’s many beach- and hill-side yoga
centres. The little ones will also benefit from
learning how to sit still from the practice!
8. Bangkok
With its chaotic streets, sensationally-
flavoured food and famous nightlife, Bangkok
is a bombastic treat for the senses. Grab a
short flight there for the amazing shopping at
Chatuchak Market and Platinum Mall,
tongue-tingling tom yam goong, and
incredible Thai massages at jaw-dropping
prices. There’s plenty for both parents and
children to enjoy here during the school
holidays.
9. Tokyo
Everyone knows the charms of quirky Tokyo
– clean, well-organized streets, great sushi
and sashimi, and perhaps the most polite
population in the world. Tokyo is a prime
base to do day trips out to family favourites
such as Tokyo Disneyland and Nikko, where
you’ll catch spectacular waterfalls and
UNESCO World Heritage temples.
10 Seoul
The soul of South Korea, Seoul is home to a
vast number of culturally important sites as
well as idyllic natural beauty. Visit the 13th-
century Gyeongbokgung Palace for a taste of
local history, shop till you drop at Myeong-
dong, and feast on fried chicken and kimchi
to your heart’s content. Young ones will also
be kept entertained at Lotte World Adventure
Park this school holiday.
Where to go for a long-haul school holiday
vacation?
11 Paris
Paris needs no introduction – it’s the City of
Lights, City of Love, and renowned for
everything from its beauty, fashion, food to
art. Experience Parisian living yourself during
the school holidays; start your day with a
steaming cup of coffee and a delicate French
pastry in a cute little patisserie by the street,
continue with a visit to the Louvre and the
Avenue des Champs-Élysées, then finish off
your day gazing over the city from the Eiffel
Tower.
12 London
ed by the meandering Thames, the city of
London boasts taste buds beauty, an
extremely diverse populace, an abundance of
UNESCO World Heritage Sites and beautiful
architecture like Westminster Abbey, Maritime

13 Melbourne

Have a stroll in the gorgeous Royal Botanic
Gardens for some fresh air and lush greenery
or shop to your heart’s content at the Queen

14 Istanbul
There’s no place like Istanbul when it comes
to ancient architecture. From famed
religious dwellings like thousand-year-old
Hagia Sophia and Sultan Ahmet Mosque to
luxurious bathhouses once used only by
royalty such as the Ayasofya Hürrem Sultan
Hamami, Turkey’s capital city promises to
owe you with its tales of ancient decadence.

15 Auckland
Auckland is truly a melting pot of different
cultures; it is the home of the Māori, the
indigenous Polynesian people of New Zealand,
as well as the settling place of many different
people from Europe, China and India. If the
whole family is a fan of the Lord of the Rings
trilogy, you can’t miss out on doing a school
holiday road trip to visit the lush landscape of
New Zealand, where the films were produced.

1. Nickelodeon Slime Time @ Sunway Pyramid

TripAdvisor, Aquaria KLCC is perfect for a family day
out. Be amazed as you walk through the 90-meter
underwater walkway tunnel where you can see fishes
and live sharks swimming past you!

As you and your family explore the 5,000 exhibits of


underwater and land creatures, your kid can also
learn about the conservation of the marine
ecosystem.
4. KidZania

give your kids a fun day of learning, with over 70


scenarios and careers to try out in KidZania. They’ll
get to learn to pilot an aeroplane, write for a

money in the miniature city, they can learn how to

Amidst the majestic limestone cliffs and greenery is

slurping your Ipoh hor fun for breakfast, head over to
Lost World Of Tambun to admire the Siberian tigers,

as you soak in the hot springs!
6. Movie Animation Park Studios (MAPS)
