Noël en France

• Christmas celebrations start on


the 6th of December in France.

• La fete de Saint Nicolas


• Some French people attend midnight
mass on Christmas Eve.

• However- often this is at about 8pm!

• This is called
Le Réveillon
(the awakening)
• French children don’t have a
Christmas stocking……
• They leave their shoes by the
fireplace…..
• Le Père Noël leaves
small presents in
their shoes!
• La bûche de Noël is a traditional
Christmas dessert in France.
• It is called the Yule Log in English.
• La Galette des Rois
• It is a cake eaten on the 6th January
(Épiphanie)
• The cake has a charm inside it.

• Whoever receives the charm


is the King/Queen
for the day!
