Verbs
A phrasal or a two-word verb

is usually followed by a preposition

that, together with a verb, forms an

idiom with its own particular

meaning.
PREPOSITION


- a word or group of
words that is used with
a noun, pronoun, or
noun phrase to show
direction, location or
time, or to introduce an
object.
Examples:
*break down, check in, tear up

1. Ella tore up the letter after she read it.


2. Their car broke down two miles out of
town.
3. Did the manager deal with that
customer’s complaint?
