Health Care
Health care is the maintenance or improvement of healthvia the prevention, diagnosis,
andtreatment of disease, illness, injury, and other physical and mental impairmentsin people.
Health care is delivered by health professionals (providers or practitioners) in allied health fields.
Physicians and physician associates are a part of these health professionals. Dentistry, midwifery,
nursing, medicine, optometry, audiology, pharmacy, psychology, occupational therapy, physical
therapy and other health professions are all part of health care. It includes work done in
providing primary care, secondary care, and tertiary care, as well as in public health.
Ultrasonography
Ultrasonography is a diagnostic image technique utilizing reflected
high-frequency sound waves to delineate, measure, or examine
internal body structures or organs.
A Tensimeter
A tensimeter is a medical device used to measure blood pressure. This
tool helps find out how much blood pressure is, so we can assess
whether our blood pressure is normal or not.
Arm Sling
Arm Sling are tools used for support and protection of injured arms
or in the maintenance process.
A Stethoscope
A Stethoscope is a medical device that fuctions to check the sounds
that exist in the patient’s body such as heart rate, breathing, and so on.
Long-term care
Long-term care isa variety of services which help meet both the
medical and non-medical needs of people with a chronic illness or
disability who cannot care for theselves for long periods. Long-term
care ca be provided at home, in the community, in assisted living
facilities or in nursing homes.
Inhaler
A portable device for administering a drug which is to be breathed in,
used for relieving asthma and other bronchial or nasal congestion.
An Otoscope
An Otoscope or auriscope is a medical device which is used to look
into the ears. Health care providers use otoscopes to screen for illness
during regular check-ups and also to investigate ear symptoms. An
otoscope potentially gives a view of the ear canal and tympanic
membrane or eardrum.
A Syringe
A Syringe is a simple reciprocating pump consisting of a plunger
(though in modern syringes it’s actually a piston) that fits tightly
within a cylindrical tube called a barrel.
Mental health care
Mental health care is a services devoted to the treatment of mental
illnesses and the improvement of mental health in people with mental
disorders.
Acute care
Acute care is a branch of secondary health care where a patient
receives active but short-term treatment for a severe injury or episode
of illness, an urgent medical condition, or during recovery from
surgery. In medical terms, care for acute health conditions is the
opposite from chronic care, or longer term care.
Influenza
Commonly known as the flu, is an infectious disease caused by an
influenza virus. Symptomp can be mild to severe. The most common
symptomps include; high fever, runny nose, sore throat, muscle pains,
headache, coughing, sneezing, and feeling tired.
Electrocardiogram (ECG)
A recording of the electrical activity of the heart. Electrodes are placed on the
skin of the chest and connected in a specific order to a machine that, when turned
on, measures electrical activity all over the heart. Output usually appears on a
long scroll of paper that displays a printed graph of activity on a computer
screen. The initial diagnosis of heart attack is usually made through observation
of a combination of clinical symptoms and characteristic ECG changes. An ECG
can detect areas of muscle deprived of oxygen and/or dead tissue in the heart. If a
medication is known to sometimes adversely affect heart function, a baseline
ECG may be ordered before the patient starts taking the medicine, and follow-up
testing may occur at regular intervals to look for any changes.
Tuberculosis (TB)
Tuberculosis is an infecttious disease usually caused by
mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) bacteria. Tuberculosis generally
affects the lungs, but can also affect other parts of the body.
Pneumonia
Pneumonia is an infection that inflames the air sacs in one or both
lungs. The air sacs may fill with fluid or ous (purulent material),
causing cough with phlwgh or pus, fever chils, and difficuly
breathing. A variety of organisms, including bacteria, viruses and
fungi, can cause pneumonia.
Antibiotic
Antibiotic is a medicine that inhibitits the growth of or destroys
microorganisms.
