IMMISCIBLE GAS INJECTION
General

 Injected gas is hydrocarbon gas

 Gas injection can be applied if there is large

amount of gas, including the produced gas
from oil.

 Objective of gas injection is to maintain

reservoir pressure.
IMMISCIBLE GAS INJECTION
General

 Amount of gas that we need to maintain

pressure can be predicted as follow :
R = Rs + Rf

R = produced gas oil ratio (total)

Rs = gas oil ratio (dissolved gas)
Rf = gas oil ratio (free gas)
IMMISCIBLE GAS INJECTION
General

 Production (per unit oil volume @surface)

 gas + oil (reservoir) = Bo + Rf . Bg
 Gas (surface) = Rs + Rf
 Injection (per unit oil volume @surface)
 gas (reservoir) = I.(Rs + Rf) Bg
 I = fraction of produced that is re-injected to
reservoir
IMMISCIBLE GAS INJECTION
General

 To maintain pressure,
 volume of injected fluid = volume of produced fluid

Bo  R f .Bg
