UPWARD COMMUNICATION

 Upward Communication is the part of communication

that flows from bottom to top.
 When the information in an organization is Manager
transferred from the lower levels of the corporate
ladder to the higher level then this type of
communication is referred as Upward
Communication.
 In Upward Communications lower level employees Supervisor
have a chance of expressing their views and ideas
and problems to the management.
 But the this can be done only there is an democratic
environment in the organization.
 In this message can be transmitted by the oral Employees
media, employee meetings, by written media etc.
DOWNWARD COMMUNICATION

 In downward information is transferred from

higher level executives to lower level Manager
executives.
 In this the communication is started by the
higher level of executives to send orders,
messages, circulars, instructions, warnings,
and roles and responsibilities of the
Supervisor
individuals.
 This can takes place through Oral, face to
face, meetings, conferences etc.

GRAPEVINES COMMUNICATION

Grape vines generally considered the rumors which

flow from one person to another without any specific
prove and reason It is informal type of
communication and unofficial, it flows throughout the
organization this term is generally originated from
American civil war era. It is generally oral
communication. Which travel faster and it is
generally inaccurate.. It can’t be controlled by
management of organization

Advantage of grape vine is that Feedback will be given

on the spot.
Disadvantage is that it doesn’t follow any protocol of
organization. It also hamper the image of the
respected person about whom rumors is spreading

• Gossip Grapevine chain.
• Probability Grapevine chain.
• Cluster Grapevine chain
