Duties of Main Controller

 Reach to the Emergency Control Center

 Get complete info. of incident.

 Synchronization with incident controller.

 Directing fire-squad, first-aiders & personals.

 Contact with: Fire Brigade, Ambulance, Water supplier.

 Contact agencies : Police, MSEB, MPCB, MIDC

 Inform head office, key persons.

 Arrange food and drinks for personnel.

Duties of Incident Controller

 Assess the size and nature of emergency.

 Stop operations and evacuate the place.

 Inform to main Controller about the situation gravity.

 Control the emergency with fire fighting equipments.

 To resolve unsafe acts which causes the emergency.

 Isolate peculiar area by shutting doors & windows.

 Collect relevant info. snaps to submit the report.

Duties of Engineering Department

 Ensure that chilled water, brine N2 and pneumatic

supply will remains normal in emergency.

 Instruct electrician to get portable light.

Duties of personnel department

 Report at assembly pt & follow controller instruction.

 To take roll call to identify missing personnel.

 Inform to Incident controller and main controller.

 Ensure that casualties receive adequate attention &

are hospitalized. Inform their relatives.

 If telephones not working arrange communication.

 Inform to statutory authorities directed by the Main

Controller.
Duties of Security Officer

 Should immediately rush to the spot along with guards.

 One guard on gate to control traffic & attend the calls.

 Only company officials to be allowed in.

 Help to extinguish fire, employee evacuation.

 Rush injured to the Hospital by arranging transport.

 To prohibit unauthorized entry

 Keep main gate and approach road clear.

Duties of Plant Supervisors
 Inform the Senior Officials immediately.
 Seek help from Security & Safety Dept.
 Assess the situation & order general evacuations.
 Rescue trapped persons & arrange First Aid for injured.
 Shut down Plant in a safe manner.
 Ensure that steam is closed, cooling system is on, the
vacuum is broken and all input values are blanked.
 Console situation till senior officials arrive.
 Co-ordinate with Security & HR dept.
 Send duly filled accident form to Safety & HR dept.
 Be in touch for assistance in peculiar building.

Leakage of acid / alkali

 Area should evacuate immediately

 Approaching personnel should wear PPE.

 Affected person should go through safety shower.

 Do not use water for corrosive material.

 Inform the Effluent treatment plant for extra load.

 Leaked tank should be emptied out by transferring.

 Leakage source should be traced out and plugged.

 Absorb small leakages with spill control kit.

 Neutralize contaminated material before dumping.

Actions against fire

 Should not get panic.

 Isolate power supply from affected areas.

 If necessary, shut down the plant.

 Shift the flammable material to safe place.

 Cool nearby structure/equipment/storage vessel.

 During the fire fighting consider wind flow.

 If fire gets uncontrollable get help from Fire Brigade.

 After extinguished fire, aware of restart of fire.

Action against gas leak

 The affected area should evacuate first.

 Personnel should assemble at assembly point.

 Rescue trapped / injured persons.

 Peculiar buildings should close their window and doors.

 Scrub leaked gases in suitable media.

 Trace out Source of leakage; off & rectify.

 Approaching one must use PPE like SCBA or Air hoods.

 Give medical aid to affected persons.

Fire or leakage of Hydrogen Cylinder

 The main potentials for disaster are fire & gas leakage.

 The major leakage’s lead to fire but the risk to health &
environment is relatively low.

 In case of fire on cylinder, all inlet & outlet valve from

plant should off immediately.

 Supply of gas cylinder should be stopped immediately.

 Use plenty of water to cool other cylinder.
