What is it?

By Adisa Nicholson
The treatment process of
acupuncture
• Acupuncture involves sticking needles in
certain areas of the body to get rid of bad
energy and promote good energy by affecting
the flow of chi around the body.
• Strangely, acupuncture is not known to have
a negative result, despite lack of scientific
evidence.
The technical details of
acupuncture
• Traditional Chinese Medicine says that, qi
(energy) flows through the body via 14
primary meridians or channels.
• The flow of qi (energy) gets strengthened or
blockages get removed (pain) once an
acupuncturist inserts a number of tiny, sterile,
flexible needles at a specific point.
Does it work?
Not like this it doesn’t!

• The scientific benefit of acupuncture is

doubtable as there is none or very scientific
evidence saying that it works.
• However, scientific studies/trials, say that
they work.
• Numerous studies have shown, for example,
that inserting needles into the skin blocks pain
signals.
Advantages of acupuncture
• The placebo is effective at making people feel
better, and feel capable of giving up smoking.
• Acupuncture is an effective painkiller without
using drugs.
• There are no side effects making it not
dangerous. So it can be taken without
conflicting with existing medication.
• The treatment has stood the test of time and
has been around for thousands of years
Disadvantages of acupuncture
• Acupuncture cannot deal with serious illnesses
• The practitioner may be shoddy by using re-
using dirty needles.
• Acupuncture does not detect
• diseases.
• The person performing
• acupuncture may not
• be fully qualified.
