SHAMING

DEFINITION
• Humiliating someone by making mocking or critical comments
about their body shape or size
SOCIETY’S ”BEAUTY STANDARDS”
• We live in a society that is obsessed with everything.
“Fat is bad, dark is ugly, thin is sick.”
• Body shaming labels and excludes people based on an unattainable
“ideal” image.
• This “brainwashing” comes from endless photos of beautiful skinny
models everywhere we look.
• Every form of media displays a standard of beauty it believes that
everyone should look like. It is okay for you not to fit into this
standard of beauty because no one actually fits this standard.
• Everyone comes in different shapes and sizes.
WHAT ARE THE EFFECTS?
• Having body-image issues and being verbally attacked for the way you
look can be incredibly damaging to mental health. Which lead to
anxiety, depression, and social isolation.
• It may also lead to eating disorders like anorexia.
• Crushes the self-esteem and confidence of another human being.
STOP BODY SHAMING
• A poor body image could be harming us
physically as well.
• Body-shaming is extremely damaging and
the statistics are concerning. According to a
research, a huge 94 per cent of women and
84 per cent of men are affected by body-
shaming.
• SO STOP BODY SHAMING!
THE POINT IS..
Whatever size you are doesn’t determine your beauty.
Body shaming does not only affect women but also men.
Considered unattractive if they do not obtain their six packs (according
to the so called “standard”)

Body Hate isn't about your body - it's about your mind. We spend so
much time criticizing ourselves. Why don't we try and move some of the
focus away and start celebrating our bodies the way it is.
“The problem isn’t the food. The
problem is that we’ve been taught
that how we look is more important
than who we are.”
