COMPETENCY ONE

•Demonstrate ethical and professional

behavior
BEHAVIOR ONE

• Making ethical decisions by applying the standards of the NASW Code of Ethics, relevant laws and

regulations, models for ethical decision making, ethical conduct of research, and additional codes of

ethics as appropriate to context.

• I represent a future social worker by proving my understanding of the NASW Code of Ethics by

showing each client their dignity and worth, along with always remaining open and honest about

confidentiality, course of actions, and future plans being implemented for the client.
BEHAVIOR TWO

• Use reflection and self regulation to manage personal values and maintain professionalism in

practice

• Being in a school setting, I place all judgment aside and assess each student, alongside the

school social worker, the same. I make sure to not let my biases and past judgments reflect on

anything dealing with the student/client.

BEHAVIOR THREE

• Demonstrate professional demeanor in behavior, appearance, and oral, written, and electronic

communication.

• When at my agency location, I should always dress appropriately and my demeanor and speech

should remain just as appropriate. Any written, online, or face to face communication should

not cross the professional boundaries. Being on time and willing to learn and grow as a social

worker is also represented in this behavior.

BEHAVIOR FOUR

• Use technology ethically and appropriately to facilitate practice outcomes.

• Using my given work phone to only communicate with parents, staff, administration, or anyone

else deemed necessary on a case to case interest. Keeping my personal phone put away in

meetings, around students/clients, or anywhere deemed inappropriate.

BEHAVIOR FIVE
• Use supervision and consultation to guide professional judgment and behavior.

• My field/internship location is the Anson County School System, specifically Anson High School

and Anson Academy and my supervisors name is Mrs. Priscilla McDaniel’s MSW. I only assist

Mrs. McDaniel’s and or do my own work with her direct approval or guidance. In order to gain

experience and professional practice, I have to take her advice and learn from her to become

the best professional social worker I can be, rather than the learning and growing intern I am

now.
