HAIR
3 MAIN TYPES OF SHAMPOOS
1. Clarifying Shampoo: cleanses the hair of all
product build up and anything that is blocking the
cuticle.
2. Conditioning Shampoo: Provides moisture and
shine to the hair.
3. Scalp Shampoos: Scalp shampoos will remove the
build-up of toxins, sebum, and residues that are
trapped in the scalp. This shampoo helps to calm
the scalp and disinfect the scalp. Anti-itch
shampoos also protect against irritants and control
dandruff.
SHAMPOOS THAT ARE USED IN THE
SALON
 All-purpose shampoo – deep cleansing of
all types of hair.
 Moisturizing shampoo – intended for dry
and damage hair.
 Anti-dandruff shampoo – used to control
dandruff and itch.
 Powder dry shampoo – it is intended to
absorb excess oil from the hair.
BASIC EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS USED
IN SHAMPOOING & CONDITIONING
 Shampoo bowl – enamel-coated cast iron bowl
 Shampoo chair – vinyl-covered shampoo chair
with a reclining system.
 Shampoo cape – protective drapes used during
hair & scalp treatment.
 Heating cap - trapping in heat and saturating
your hair in moisture, a heat cap delivers heat
through the cap straight to your hair.
 Applicator brushes – used to apply
shampoo to the hair.
 Comb – used to partition the hair and
remove dirt.
 Towels – dries the hair by absorbing the
moisture.
 Neck strips – provide a gentle touch
without letting hair or chemicals create an
unpleasant experience for your client.
PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES WHEN
SHAMPOOING
 The salon must be well lighted, cool, & ventilated.
 Must be supplied with adequate running hot &
cold water.
 Waste materials must be removed from the floor
immediately.
 Always check electrical equipment before use.

 Do not plug too many pieces of electrical


equipment in one socket.
 Wear personal protective equipment when
shampooing the hair
