But, how can the “Speaker’s Customers” be served if they are so rested, sleepy and relaxed that they seem unprepared to be recepients of the message of someone orating behind a podium? ENTERTAINMENT SPEECH is…. ■ Significant ■ A speech that makes viewpoint through the creative, organized use of the speaker’s wit. ■ Distinguishes from other speeches is the amusement value. ■ It is usually given on an occasion where people are in light mode just like after a luncheon or dinner at a meeting or a banquet. ■ This is also reffered to as After-dinner speech. ■ Its primary goal is not to inform or persuade, but to create an amusement. ■ Speech to entertain is different from speaking to entertain. ■ A speech to entertain still informs or persuades but said speech is cloaked with humor, otherwise, it will just be merely a comedy show which is an example of speaking to entertain. It is good to avoid these. ■ Original jokes are better than adopted ones. ■ Self-disgrading humor may be considered.
