Pressure Sensors
Common Types of
Pressure
ABSOLUTE PRESSURE

GAUGE PRESSURE

DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE
Types of Pressure

Absolute Pressure
-zero reference against a perfect vacuum and is equal to gauge pressure
plus atmospheric pressure
Gauge Pressure
-zero reference against ambient air pressure and is equal to absolute
pressure minus atmospheric pressure
Differential Pressure
-the difference in pressure between two points
Common Types of
Pressure Sensors
ANEROID BAROMETER SENSORS

MANOMETER SENSORS

BOURDON TUBE PRESSURE SENSORS

VACUUM PRESSURE SENSORS

ANEROID BAROMETER SENSOR
Types of Pressure Sensors

 It is composed of a hollow metal

casing that has flexible surfaces on it
top and bottom.
 Atmospheric pressure changes cause
this metal casing to change shape,
with mechanical levers augmenting
the deformation in order to provide a
more noticeable results.
Manometer Sensor
Types of Pressure Sensors

A manometer is a fluid pressure

sensor that takes measurements by
recording the effect of pressure on
a column of a liquid.
Bourdon Tube Pressure Sensor
Types of Pressure Sensors

 It employs a helical or C-shaped

sensing element instead of a hollow
capsule like in aneroid.
 One end of the bourdon tube is fixed
into connection with the pressure,
while the other end is closed
Vacuum Pressure Sensor
Types of Pressure Sensors

This kind of sensor rely on a heated

wire with a electrical resistance
correlating to temperature.
When vacuum pressure increases,
convection is reduced and wire
temperature rises.
