Description
• The part of operations management will discuss:
• Introduction & Operations strategy in a global
environment
• Designing operations: product design, capacity
planning, layout planning
• Managing and improving operations: supply chain
management, inventory management & ERP, Lean
manufacturing

Course delivery
• The course is delivered using participant
centered learning (PCL)
• Participants should read the given materials
before attending the class
• Participants should actively participate in class
discussion (remember that you are assessed on
class participation)

Case analysis
• Form 4 groups. Each group should search 2 or 3 cases (from Harvard
Business Review) that are related to sub topics that will be discussed
in class, and send them to the lecturer to be reviewed.
• The lecturer will then choose 1 case to be discussed in class. The
group must disseminate the selected case to all students, at least
one week before presentation.
• Every group should read the case, make the PPT slides, and actively
participate in the discussion, however only one group will present
the case analysis in each session.
• The case analysis (PPT slides) should contain:
• Case synopsis
• Problem identification
• Problem solving analysis
• Conclusions and recommendations
• Lessons learned
• Presentation time: max 30 min 5
Final case analysis
• Every group should submit and present the final
case analysis on session 14
• The final case should cover the four
management function aspects (marketing, HRM,
finance, and OM) of a real company
• Format:
• A4 paper size, space 1.5, Arial 12
• Minimum 5 pages per function

Assessment (second half)
• Class participation : 10%
• Case analysis and presentation : 10%
• Final-term exam : 20%
• Final case analysis & presentation : 20%
: 60%
