What is the purpose of this social media?
LinkedIn is a business community-specific social networking site. The site's goal is to
enable registered members to establish and document professional networks of
people they know in real life. It allows you to network and build your professional
portfolio for potential recruiters and employers to view.
What are the popular features?
LinkedIn's main features include:

Keep In Touch: As people change jobs so often, LinkedIn gives users the opportunity to stay up-to-date on
relative work in their professional network and how to contact them.

Get Help: If the immediate communication network of a client cannot help with a business issue, LinkedIn's
tools ‘Answers and Groups’ enable them to link with experts through reliable introductions.

Search For Jobs: LinkedIn Jobs allows users to browse for thousands of job listings, including incentives to
fill out applications directly on the web. The query and the LinkedIn profile are then sent to the hiring
manager directly.

Hire New Employees: Hiring managers can use LinkedIn to identify the applicant with the appropriate
knowledge and experience.
Who is the intended audience?
LinkedIn’s intended audience is specifically for the business community, job seekers
and recruiters. However, this networking platform is intended for anyone who is
looking to build their professional profile for future endeavors. The audience can be
anyone pursuing a career and companies looking to hiring potential employees.

LinkedIn is different from other social media outlets because it is designed

specifically for the business community. LinkedIn's success is driven by the profile
you're developing and how much you reach out to others. In other words, social
media sites like Facebook and Twitter are more focused on "social networking,"
while LinkedIn is more focused on "business connections." LinkedIn has tried to
introduce more social aspects to the web, claiming to have more than 150 million
users. They added the ability to bring the Twitter feed into the LinkedIn update
channel in 2009. LinkedIn is trying to integrate social improvements into the
network, but it's the users that will make LinkedIn genuinely social at the end of the
day.

Would you use it? Why or why not?
I have a LinkedIn profile, however, I only created one for a previous class I was
taking at ASU. I am not familiar with the network whatsoever and I was able to
become knowledgeable through this assignment. After researching LinkedIn, I feel
like I have been missing out on a great platform. I have always heard people speak
highly of LinkedIn and ask me if I have one for years. I never did until recently.
LinkedIn is a great way to network and establish professional connections within
your social circle. It’s a wonderful way to build yourself professionally for a future
career and help you achieve more opportunities. I think it’s a great tool that we have
available to us!
Thank you!
