1. Product Portfolio Core technology – Sliding contact
Inside a trunking section, the conductors are fixed (1) at a single point in the casing.
Due to the change in temperature, expand () on either side of that point.
The zones affected by expansion and considered critical from the electrical
standpoint are the jointing system (2) and tap-off outlets (3).

Junction:
The system is made up of springs and an area of sliding contacts that allow
conductor movement while maintaining outstanding electrical contact.

Tap-off openings:
Conductor’s expansion is compensated for by a contact zone on which
the silver-plated copper clamps of the tap-off unit can slide.

4. Customer
benefits For investors

 Easy to use and be customized by building tenants:

The installation is upgradeable and can be redeployed
by tenants

 Installations
are safer: Time of completion

Canalis has a far better fire behaviour than cable

 Ideal for short-deadline projects:

As completion times are halved, Canalis is ideal for
this type of project

KS

Schneider Electric - China- Slides Library-2012 51

4. Customer
benefits
For electrical consultants

 Easier to study:
You only have to consider the characteristics of the supply source and
the loads.
The study is possible separately from distribution of energy and
implementation of loads.
The characteristics of Canalis are known in the catalogue
The whole Canalis range is co-ordinated with Merlin Gerin protection
system.
Short design leadtime

 You can specify in complete confidence:

The electrical performance is secuted by pre-fabricated products
Compliance with standards (type tests-tested).
100% of live elements are routine tested under extreme conditions.
Safety is guaranteed.
Complies with ISO14001 (environment), reliable and durable.

4. Customer
benefits
For contractors
 Cost advantage
Compared with cable tray solution
Minimized Installation cost

 Satisfies your customers’ needs

Flexible installation, without production downtime, clean, compliant
and safe.
Minimized on-site processes to make sure the installation quality and
electrical performance

 Productivity: work on site times are halved

2 people are sufficient to install a busbar trunking
Easy to connect and test
You can be awarded more invitations to tender and increase your
profit margin

 Short project completion times

A genuine network of distributors
A large production capacity

Schneider Electric - China- Slides Library-2012 53

4. Customer For end-users
benefits
 Very flexible
Easy, quick and low-cost addition, replacement and
displacement of loads
