HYDROELECTRIC POWER

 The World Bank reported that the Philippines is one of the “13 largest
additions to hydroelectric capacity in developing countries.” The Department
of Energy claims that hydropower can be implemented in almost all regions
in the country. There are more or less 25 hydropower plants in the
Philippines today.
GEOTHERMAL POWER

 The Philippines is one of the world's top producers of geothermal power,


owing to its location along the Ring of Fire zone of Pacific volcanoes. ... As of
2010, the US had a capacity of 3093 megawatts of geothermal power, while
that of the Philippines was 1904 megawatts. The Philippines was followed by
Mexico with 958 MW.
SOLAR POWER

 March 18, 2018 — Solar Philippines has completed the largest solar-battery
micro-grid in Southeast Asia. With two megawatts of solar panels, two MW
batteries and two MW diesel backup, it is designed to supply
reliable power 24 hours a day at a lower cost.
WIND ENERGY

 he Philippines is planning to increase the installed wind energy capacity to


1,600 MW over the next 2-3 years. Zubiri stated that the Philippines has
significant wind energy resources spread across various islands of the
country. ... The project will includes 50 units of the Vestas V90-3 MW turbine.

BIOMASS ENERGY

 The Philippines has abundant supplies of biomass energy resources in the


form of agricultural crop residues, forest residues, animal wastes, agro-
industrial wastes, municipal solid wastes and aquatic biomass. The most
common agricultural wastes are rice hull, bagasse, cane trash, coconut
shell/husk and coconut coir.
