What is illegal logging?

 Illegal logging is the harvest, transportation,

purchase or sale of timber in violation of laws.
The harvesting procedure itself may be
illegal, including using corrupt means to gain
access to forests; extraction without
permission, or from a protected area; the
cutting down of protected species; or the
extraction of timber in excess of agreed
limits.
 It can also produce deforestation that can
have a negative impact on the environment.
The most dramatic impact is a loss of habitat
for millions of species. Eighty percent of
Earth's land animals and plants live in
forests, and many cannot survive the
deforestation that destroys their homes.
Deforestation also drives climate change.
Impacts? Causes? Effects?

 Major impacts. The impacts of illegal logging

include environmental, economic and social
aspects. Environmental impacts include the
loss or degradation of forests, as illegal
logging tends to be associated with poor
forest management. This can result in the
loss of habitats and biodiversity.
 The causes of illegal logging are manifold.
Weaknesses in forest governance in
producer countries are typically the direct
cause. However, consumer countries
contribute to these problems by importing
timber and timber products without ensuring
that they are legally sourced.
 Everyone should stop illegal logging.
Especially the people who know how to cut
trees. They don't know what are the effects of
illegal logging. There will be major impacts, like
few forests, and animals dying. When trees
vanish because of illegal logging, many big
things will happen. For example, the
atmosphere will be thin because trees give out
carbon dioxide. Trees help us breathe. Illegal
loggers should know the effects of what they
are doing. They need to stop illegal logging so
that no major events will happen and we will be
safe.
