What is consumer behavior?
Consumer behavior is the study of how individual customers, groups or
organizations select, buy, use, and dispose ideas, goods, and services to
satisfy their needs and wants.

Why study consumer behavior?


Consumer behavior is the study of how individual customers, groups or
organizations select, buy, use, and dispose ideas, goods, and services to
satisfy their needs and wants. It refers to the actions of the consumers in
the marketplace and the underlying motives for those actions.

• Behavior is rational and can be explained.
• Behavior is purposive involving search,
• Evaluation and storing of data.
PURPOSE OF RESEARCH

• To know the factors which affect the consumer when they


go for purchasing cigarette brand.

• To know the consumer behavior towards purchase of cigarette


certain things are very important like taste of cigarette.
The main objectives of the project
undertaken are :

• To study the consumer behavior while buying a cigarette.


• To study the consumption pattern of cigarette among
different individuals.
• To study the preference among various cigarette brand.
• To study the brand preference of GPIL.

Factors affecting consumer while buying a
cigarette :

Findings:

• By this survey we found out that the smoking consumption of


cigarette is high amongst the youngsters.

• We also found out that the Marlboro Advance is the best


selling cigarette in the market and after that Marlboro Lite is
taking the second spot and Gold Flake and total is also doing
well in the market.

• GPIL is a known brand among people.


• Marlboro advance and Marlboro Lite is among the top selling
cigarette of GPI.

• Flavour of cigarette now affects consumer buying pattern.


They now look for different flavor available in a cigarette
brand.

• We need to increase our brand awareness through Digital


media campaigning.
Suggestions:
• Companies should promote more advertisement and
promotional activities in order to increase more awareness
about the different brands among different age groups.

• As per study, smokers now days don’t prefer high nicotine


content. So companies should launch more brands with less
nicotine content.

• Companies should use digital marketing platform such as face


book, instagram, twitter for promoting their new and existing
brands which will give them larger consumer base.
• They should launch new schemes and free sample
programmes for increasing the sales.
• Companies should do more CSR activities to give something
back to the society as they are engage in tobacco producing
activities.
• As four square clove crush is doing good in the market,
though it is a newly launched cigarette. Therefore, the
company can launch more flavored cigarettes so as to attract
more consumers.
• E-cigarettes should be advertised more in order to increase
awareness about them among different age groups.
