INTRODUTION

 Early home automation began with labor-saving

machines. Self-contained electric or gas powered home
appliances became viable in the 1900s with the
introduction of electric power distribution and led to the
introduction of washing machines in (1904) , water
heaters (1889), refrigerators, sewing
machines, dishwashers, and clothes dryers.
 In 1975, the first general purpose home automation
network technology, X10, was developed. It is a
communication protocol for electronic devices.
ABSTRACT

 Now the world full of automation

.Everyone in the world going towards automation.
Now a days the advanced domains such as IOT and
AUTOMATIC INTELLIGENCE provides the
automation which is of high cost. The main aim of
this miniproject is to allow people in automation to
the next level by using arduino. Since automation
makes the human lives so simple and easy. Our
project is full of HOME AUTOMATION SYSTEM .
COMPONENTS

 ARDUINO BOARD.
 RELAY BOARD.

ARDUINO BOARD:
 An arduino board of UNO type is used here. The Arduino
UNO is an open-source microcontroller board based on
the Microchip ATmega328P microcontroller and developed by Arduino.cc.
The board is equipped with sets of digital and analog input/output (I/O) pins
that may be interfaced to various expansion boards (shields) and other circuits.

 The board has 14 Digital pins, 6 Analog pins, and programmable

with the Arduino IDE (Integrated Development Environment) via a type B
USB cable. It can be powered by a USB cable or by an external 9 volt battery,
though it accepts voltages between 7 and 20 volts. It is also similar to the
Arduino Nano and Leonardo.

RELAY BOARD

 A relay is an electrically operated switch. Many relays

use an electromagnet to mechanically operate a switch,
but other operating principles are also used, such as solid-
state relays. Relays are used where it is necessary to
control a circuit by a separate low-power signal, or where
several circuits must be controlled by one signal. The first
relays were used in long distance telegraph circuits as
amplifiers: they repeated the signal coming in from one
circuit and re-transmitted it on another circuit. Relays
were used extensively in telephone exchanges and early
computers to perform logical operations

WORKING

 Initially an arduino program

constructed by using python software were dumped
into the arduino uno board. Then connection were
done between arduino board and relay switch. The
phase, neutral and common of the channels of the
relay switch were connected to the number of home
appliances that we want to work automatically
 ON and OFF can be programmed by us based
on our convenience Based on the type of the program
we inserted, the relay switch manages the ac current
that is either allowing or blocking of the ac current
flowing to the appliances. The number of channels
used in relay board is based on the number of home
appliances we want to control automatically. We are
implementing a program which contains a looping
section. Such loop is very much helpful for the
automatic ON and OFF of the corresponding home
appliances. The duration between
APPLICATION

 Since now a days automation is possible only by

the IOT and AI but here, we done the automation
only using arduino board coding.
 Here we are using the python software which is
so efficient and effective than any other software.
Such program is suitable for arduino board.
 The main aim of this is the power consumption
 This automation system is mostly used for
physically challenged persons.
FUTURE SCOPE

 This project can also be developed to the next level

by using a Bluetooth module or WiFi in which the
ON and OFF of the home appliance from the mobile
phones itself.
 This project can also be implemented in the room by
using infrared sensors at four edges to sense the
humans based the temperature reflected from the
body. From that we can avoid the wastage of power
of the appliances.
CONCLUSION

 In this paper we are explained about the effective

automation system by using the simple arduino and
relay board .We hope that this will really helpful in
every home and instituitions to save the wastage of
power.
