She was born in
Holy Springs
Mississippi
 1884
Ida was asked by the
conductor to give up her
seat on the train to a white
man and ordered her to
transferred in the smoking
which was already
crowded with the
passengers.
 1889
Ida Wells became
a partner in the
Free speech and
Headlight.
 1892
Three of Ida Well’s
friends were lynched
or kidnapped and
brutally murdered.
 1895
Wells married the
editor of Chicago’s
early Black
newspapers.
 1906
She joined the
Niagara
Movement.
 1930
She became disgusted by
the nominees of the major
parties to the state
legislature.

She died in
Chicago Illinois at
the age of 69.
