Population:
It may be defined as group of organisms of the same species occupying a particular
space.
Population Explosion

 Population Explosion means sudden and rapid rise in the size of the population.
 It means drastic growth in population beyond normal limit.
 It is not only a problem in India, but all over the world.
 India is second most populous country in the world while china is on the top.
 It is more prominent in under developed and developing countries.
Statistics

 Population in the world is currently growing at a rate of around 1.08% per year
 World population has doubled in 40 years from 1959 (3 billion) to 1999 (6
billion).
 According to the 2017 revision of the World Population Prospects India's
population stood at 1,324,171,354
 The latest world population projections indicate that world population will reach
10 billion persons in the year 2057
 The population of India represents 17.99 percent of the world´s
total population which arguably means that one person in every 6
people on the planet is a resident of India
