 This scam occur in year 2012 .

 This scam is in regards to Indian Government’s

allocation of nation’s coal deposit to PSU’s and private
companies.

 The basic premise of this scam was that wrongful

allocation of Coal deposits by Government without
resorting to competitive bidding, which would have
made huge amounts to the Government.

 The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India

reported that around 25 companies have taken
advantages from this allocation of coal.

• United's Kingfisher beer has more than a 50% market

share in India's beer market. The beer is available in 52
countries outside India and leads among Indian beers
in the international market
• Kingfisher Airlines, established in 2005, was a major business
venture launched by Mallya.

• It eventually became insolvent and had to be closed down. As of

October 2013, it had not paid salaries to its employees for 15
months, had lost its licence to operate as an airline

• Mallya, whose now-defunct group company Kingfisher Airlines owes

over Rs 9,000 crore to 17 banks

 The Finance Ministry asked public sector banks to

collect passport details of all those borrowers who
have borrowed loans of more than Rs 50 crore.

 The government has set up a committee to identify

measures aimed at stopping defaulting promoters
from fleeing the country and avoid a high-profile
repeat of departures like Vijay Mallya .This will
include a check on possible dual citizenship.
