LITERATURE REVIW

• Hirunlabh et al (2005) reported a successful case using a

silica gel bed combined with the traditional central HVAC
to serve desired air to the office, which could save
significant running costs.
• Qun Cui et al (2005) preferred DH-5 and DH-7 as the
adsorbents rather than silica gel and molecular sieve
owing to their higher dehumidifying capability, which
reaches 0.7 kg/kg. The wide regeneration temperature and
higher cooling capacity of DH-5 / DH-7 were found to be
superior to silica gel and molecular sieve.
• Comparing investigations regarding the
performance of activated alumina, silica gel, 13X and
LCIX were carried out by Daou et al (2006).

• Jia et al (2006) carried out experiments and

simulations of lithium chloride assisted air cooling
system with refrigerant R-22. Results indicated that
COP of the lithium chloride assisted cooling system
was 37.5% higher than the conventional vapour
compression system. However the regeneration
temperature of lithium chloride was lower than
100°C.
• Vibhor Jain et al 2013 studied
dehumidification trend of a fixed solid
desiccant bed filled with silica gel using a two
dimensional mathematical model. The
comparison of silica gel particle of two
different radiuses reveals that smaller
desiccant particles have more affinity towards
water whereas larger particles will be more
inert to atmospheric humidity and slow in
dehumidification.
• Hamed et al 2013 investigated radial flow
desiccant packed bed theoretically and
experimentally for transient coupled heat and
mass transfer. System parameters and flowing air
conditions are measured and analyzed. Acceptable
agreements are found between the theoretical and
experimental results. The most effective
parameters on the system performance are the
initial water content of the bed and its initial
temperature. The Bed cooling during adsorption
improves the system performance.
DESIGN OF REFRIGERATION OF AIR
DRYER

In thermal power plant some of valves and

damper which are used by pneumatic
operations for pneumatic operation pure
air is required. The air which does not
contains the moisture particles. In order
to remove the moisture particles from the
air we are using the refrigeration of air
dryer
LAYOUT OF REFRIGERATION AIR DRYER
WORKING
• The atmosphere air enter into the air to air heat
exchanger in that air comes from refrigerant
exchanger is absorbs the heat from atmosphere air
• Then the air enter into the refrigerant exchanger
in that exchanger the air is condensed to the
below zero degree so that moisture in the air is
condensed into liquid state the condensed air pass
through the moisture collector to the pre heater
• The freon gas in refrigerant exchanger that
helps to condensed the air
• At some point freon convert into liquid state
that goes to the liquid separator then its move
to compressor to compress the liquid
• The compressed liquid comes to the condenser
then the condensed freon again goes to the
refrigerant exchanger through expansion valve
