Initially the structure was informal and fluid having no formal routine
1 as no. of employees(40) was very low initially

But as gradually problems aroused, Elizabeth Rankin an INSEAD MBA


2 was hired to solve the organisational structural issues. She was given a
complete free hand and she chose to implement a hierarchical,
functional structure

3 The functional system worked well for a few years but it soon had to
be modified into a matrix structure

As the company grew the matrix structure also failed , and now at this juncture
4 she was in a quandary. She knew she had to implement the divisional structure in the
organisation but it has its own set of problems associated with it.
