3.3 Programme Brief:
OFFICE SPACES:
Fully rentable office towers is important as a part ofCBDzone. Offices are organized into two zones:
Public oriented offices: Travel Agency, Banks, Customer Care, etc. Client oriented offices: Specialized
offices, Headquarters, etc

SHOPPING:
Developing the city center area, shopping area is essential. The various goods will ensure a social and
economic mix of people. There will be 300 shops. Allocating 15,000 sftfor these shops.size of the shops will
vary as large, medium and small.

Hotel:
To serve the city center, tourist hotel is essential because many buyers come from outside for the deal with
garments factory.

CONVENTION CENTER:
To serve the City center as well as the city, this mixeduse rentable program will ensure a lot of activity. It
can serve as business conference centre, convention hall, exhibition hall and community centre.

RECREATIONAL FACILITIES:
The entire city people need the recreational facilities. The CBD area is always so tensed up. So there must
be a resting place. They could take a break and breathe. Also diversify the users groups and create
vibrancy. Recreational Facilities are grouped in 4 zones: Dine,gamezone,Cineplex& health club.

There are three types of road. They are high traffic connecting road, mid traffic blockroad & arterial road.

•Approach from the particular portion for particular use is different here & it’s clearly diversified in 3
zones here.
•Secondary pedestrian entry is acceptable from north & south side working as pedestrian bypass
through the park like environment of the project.
•Distribution of each function through a central plaza or natural court working as natural connection.
•Ensuring maximum security with minimum obstacle of movement.
•Ensuring leisure environment for the all steps of public and give something extra to connect them
with the nature & function living together.
•View to the central breathing space from each function.
•Maximum perforation from building to south side.
•Special treatment for the west and east side to protect the indoor environment from the sun.
•Emphasize on the public realm.

Program rational
The program of urban breathing hub initiates from the typology of recreation
then the use of open area & indoor functional facilities. Multiple age group, user
group & socio cultural group are nested here & they are served viably. Outdoor
space is very important here though 6.5 lakh square feet of function is proposed
to be accommodated. Min. ground coverage is one of the prime concerns in
design and impact on to be merged with nature. Most of the functions have semi
outdoor facilities by following functional needs. Here is developed three distinct
zones.

1.1 Project Brief
Name of project : Gazipur City Center
Type of project : commercial
Location : Gazipur Chowrasta
Site Area : 290538 sqft (6.67 sqft)

1.2 Project Introduction


City Center is the central part or main
business and commercial area of a city. A city
center is the common platform of commercial,
cultural , social, business, entertainment
activities of its denizens and geographic heart
of a city.

This space in the city symbolizes a place of


intensive gathering point of the people, for the
purpose of satisfying their most varied
requirements conception of a city in the mind of
an observer.
1.3 Rationale of the project
Choosing Gazipur City Center as an undergraduate thesis topic as being
an architect, I wanted to contribute in nation building. To me designing
new buildings is not something that will help my country to stand among
other developing nations. I rather chose working to create heart of the
city where fulfill all demand of public. As an unplanned city cannot be
changed overnight so I would like to start developing with the
fundamental issues going here already. The fundamental concern of this
project is managing the essential advancement needs of a city, with
provided small amount of land and other facilities for a tremendous
mass.

1.4 Aim & Objective of the Project


Understand the urban context and find out the problems because of a
Commercial Complex carries out some positive correspondence for the city
and the citizen.
Design a Proper Architectural space which will incorporate with the
building and better living place for Present and future.
 The Commercial Complex has to consider physical and psychological
needs of the public.
 It has also to consider the value of the Social and Traditional context.
 Design a commercial building which will address the urban needs
 Design spaces which is required in such commercial zones
 Design a better living place for present and future.
