ADAPTIVE E-LEARNING WEB APPLICATION 2019-20

Introduction
 In recent decades, the use of information and communication
technologies (ICT) for educational purposes has increased, and
the spread of network technologies has caused e-learning
practices to evolve significantly.
 E-Learning is the use of technology to enable people to learn
anytime and anywhere.
 The reason we opted for this project is due to the advantages e-
learning provides:
 Flexible  Independent learning
 Efficient  Exposure for sharing ideas
 Caters Students Interest

SURVEY 3
3) Ling Wang, Gongliang Hu and Tiehua Zhou (2018). Semantic Analysis of
Learners’ Emotional Tendencies on Online MOOC Education Department of
Computer Technology, School of Information Engineering, Northeast Electric
Power University, Jilin 132000, China; smile2867ling@neepu.edu.cn (L.W.);

SUMMARY
 learners can be distinguished in terms of their emotional tendencies and
course participation time series, and investigated the relationship between
their emotional tendencies and learning effects.
 “Active & Negative” learners had a higher course completion rate, but a
lower course graduation rate.
 Reasonable personalized guidance for this group could improve the
completion rate of MOOCs and graduation rates as a whole.

ADAPTIVE E-LEARNING WEB APPLICATION 2019-20

Problem Statement
Implement an e-learning web application based on deep learning
that recommends videos and courses based on the user’s
interest and motivates them to complete the courses. The system
further learns about the user’s sentiment during the period of
competition of the current course.
Implement an adaptive algorithm as a series of mathematical
equations and integrate the algorithm in the currently available
learning system to provide the user with the best possible user
experience.

ADAPTIVE E-LEARNING WEB APPLICATION 2019-20

Expected Outcome
The proposed web application will
have a hybrid collaborative filter
and feedback analysis to improve
the recommender system.
We have proposed the feedback
system at two levels.
1)External feedback: Real time
update info such as comments.
2) Internal feedback: sentiment
analysis.
The model hence provides the
learner with a more personalized
recommendation of courses.

 IT Sector
 Pharmaceutical Industry
 Retail Industry
 Banking and Finance Industry
 Manufacturing Industry

ADAPTIVE E-LEARNING WEB APPLICATION 2019-20

EXISTING SYSTEM
 Relies on the user’s engagement with the platform
 Systems utilize content filtering approach to engage the
learners
 Provide the basic functionalities such as
• bookmarking of questions • help chats
• participating in online quiz • Leaderboards
• reviewing previous questions • unlocking answers
• searching facilities • solving challenges

 The current MOOCs have a higher rate of registration and a

low rate of completion.

ADAPTIVE E-LEARNING WEB APPLICATION 2019-20

PROPOSED SYSTEM
 Focused on recommending courses to students
depending on their skill set which will help students
improve their concept level.
 The learning interests are derived by sentiment
analysis of the chats on the discussion forum and the
feedback received.
 Recommend the right videos and courses using
hybrid collaborative filtering and UX metrics.

ADAPTIVE E-LEARNING WEB APPLICATION 2019-20

OUTCOME
The final outcome of our application is that we
will be able to the following:
 automate courses and video recommendation
 application will be able to identify the interest of the
user
 his/her clarity of concepts in the opted course

ADAPTIVE E-LEARNING WEB APPLICATION 2019-20

Conclusion
 The proposed system will be designed for the recommending
courses to students depending on their skill set and interest.
 The proposed system will use hybrid collaborative filtering
to help recommend the users.
 Sentiment analysis will be used on discussions and chats
which will act as a user monitoring system and find learning
interests and improvements.
