What is Crimp ?
•Crimp in textile fiber is defined as undulation or successions
of waves in the fiber . Which are introduced either naturally
during fiber growth or mechanically/ chemically during
processing .
•Crimp can be considered as the degree of deviation from the
linearity of a non straight fiber .
•It is also called waviness of the fiber.which expressed as
waves or crimps per unit length .
Classification of Crimp
1 -Crimp in yarns
2 - Crimp in staple fiber
a-Helical crimp (wool)
b-Planner crimp (man made fiber)
c-Convolution (cotton)
3- Crimp in filaments
CRIMP MEASUREMENT
Crimp refers to the amount of bending that is done
by thread as it interlaces with the threads that are
lying in the opposite direction of the fabric .
It is denoted by C
