PROCESS

of
RESEARCH
Presented by: Jeannette T. Labra
Is define as a scientific and systematic
process of collecting and analyzing
information(data) in order to increase our
understanding of the phenomenon with
which we are concerned or interested.

It is formed by TWO words namely RE-a

prefix-meaning do it again, and a noun
SEARCH- to investigate or to look for.

5. Preparing
6. Data the

Design
1. Purpose of Reseach

 To add to the body knowledge

 To solve a problem
 To find out what happens
 To find the evidence to inform practice
 To develop a greater understanding of people and
their world
 To predict, plan and control
 To continue to other peoples well-being
 To contribute personal needs
 To test or disapprove a theory
 To come up with a better way
 To understand another person’s point of view
 To create more interest in the researcher
2. Research Questions/Identify the Problem

There are two types of research problems;

 Relate to states of nature
 Relationship between variables

Essentially two steps are involved in define research

problem;
 Understanding the problem thoroughly and
 Rephrasing the same into meaningful terms from
point of view.

3. Review the Literature

 Once the problem is define and identified, a brief
summary of it should be written down.
4. Formulate Hypothesis

 Is a tentative assumption made in order to draw out

and test its logical or empirical consequences.
Hypothesis should be very specific and limited to the
piece of research in hand because it has to be tested.

5. Preparing the Research Design

 The function of research design is to provide for the

collection of relevant evidence with minimal
expenditure of effort, time and money.

 Research purpose may be group into four categories

1. Exploration
2. Description
3. Diagnosis
4. Experimentation
6. Data Collection

 Primary data can be collected through:

By Observation
Through personal Interview
Through telephone interview
By mailing of questionnaires
Through schedules

7. Data Analysis

 The analysis of data requires number of closely

related operations such as establishment of
categories

This stage mainly include:

• Coding
• Editing
• Tabulation
8. Interpretation and Writing Final Draft

 Researcher has to prepare the report of what has

been done by him.

Writing of report includes;

• the preliminary pages
• the main text
• the end matter.
