Other sources of water are clouds,
icebergs, and glaciers. Clouds come
from evaporating water. Glaciers and
icebergs are solid water found only in
very cold countries and contain about
two-thirds of the earth’s freshwater.

Water gives a number of important biological and environmental functions.
In the human body, water is needed for all of your body’s functions such as:
- digesting foods
- - removing wastes
Plants and animals use water in the same manner. Animals drink water for growth
and health.
Plants absorb mineral content from water. At
the same time water keeps the plant cells
rigid.
Water serves as a habitat for some animals like fishes, octopus,
crabs, crocodiles, frogs ,sharks etc. It serves as a place for
recreation and transportation.
The water part of the earth is called Hydrosphere or
“Water Sphere”. This cover three-fourths (3/4) of its surface.
Therefore water covers a large area of its surface than land.
That is why earth is called “The Blue Planet”. Water gives
earth its characteristics of blue color as seen from outer
space.
