1. Any debris
2. Sharp edges

FLEXITANK FITTING // INSTALLATION GUIDE

Choosing a Suitable Container - Confirm

container conforms to required container
specifications as outlined in the Container
Specifications instructions.

Sweep floor of container checking for staples,

nails or sharp objects protruding from floor.

Check walls for weld slag or any protrusions

with sharp edges. Remove and tape over any
rough areas.
Procedure of Installation of Flexibag / Flexitank

Lay the corrugated paper on the

container FLOORBOARD and
fold 8inc upward at all the end.

Place the Flexitank in the center

of the container
Installation continued

Open the shipping wrapper / woven bulkhead (white color) . Position the Flexi-tank with the
arrow indicator (on the flexi-tank) pointing towards the container door. AIR VENT Unfold
Unfold the Flexi-tank and align the air vent to the centre of
the container. Remove the Valve Cover.

Air Vent
Install Bulkhead :Attach the bulkhead hanging straps to the upper tie rings in the container
(bulkhead hanging straps are available in the Accessories Packet packed with the flexi-tank).

Tie the hanging strap into a loop.

Position the adjustable D-rings in

the centre of the loop
Pull or release to adjust the
length of bulkhead hanging
strap.
Install Bulkhead (cont’d).

Insert the 1st metal bulkhead support bar through the woven bulkhead and insert it
into the container shoring slots, and hang it to both sides of bulkhead hanging
straps.
Adjust the bulkhead hanging straps by pulling/releasing the straps to achieve the
right height of the bulkhead. Be sure to KNOT THE BULKHEAD HANGING
STRAPS after adjustment to prevent slip.
The foot of woven bulkhead should be squarely on the floor of the container. The
foot should be even with the door jam. Install the remaining 4 metal bulkhead
support bars through the woven bulkhead and insert them into the container shoring
slots one by one.

Follow the sequence above to tie the STEEL BARS onto the BULKHEAD. Use
the same method to tie the remaining 3 bars

8. Install Bulkhead (cont’d).Remove the double faced
tape from the bulkhead wings and press the wings on to
the container side walls.

Tape the foot of the bulkhead on to the container floor.

The foot should be even with the door jam.
Spreading of flexi bag
Tie the retaining straps on the Flexitank to the loops
on the woven bulkhead.

Remove the Air Vent

Insert the CORPLAST SHEET into the

POCKET which is located at the back of
the bulkhead

Unfold the Flexi-tank on to the

container floor

Make sure the bottom load/discharge

valve is just behind door recess.
Preparation for hose pipe connection

Apply a few rounds of Teflon on the Air Vent (approx.

5 rounds). Screw in the Air Vent Cap tightly.

Make sure that the Air Vent is

tie the vertical foam to the horizontal metal support bars tightly.
Precautions to be taken
Caution :
Check both right and left container doors and tape over
any bolts with sharp edges which might puncture the
flexitank.

LEFT hand container door should now be closed, locked

and sealed. Fit the door Caution Labels to the outside of
the left hand door, warning that this door must remain

The container is now ready to be sent for Loading.

Discharging of Flexitank

Once flexi-tank reaches the destination, simply open the right door, connect the hose to the drain
pump and valve and wait until flexi-tank is empty. The process may take between 30 and 60
minutes, depending both on the capacity of the pump and the viscosity of the product.

When flexi-tank is almost empty and to avoid losses, it is best to double the flexi-tank like a tooth
paste tube is involved. This will push the remaining product into the mouth of flexi-tank and can be
downloaded completely. After draining the flexi-tank, its to be taken care of removing flexi-tank from
the container and proceed to destroy with all respect to the environment.

In fact, unlike the multi-party flexi-tank, in our case both the pure polyethylene which is made of
Flexi-tank as steel bulkhead are 100% recyclable materials, our solution comply with the strictest
environmental standards.
Types of Flexitanks According to Storage Capacity
• Capacity of flexi-tank :
Allows carry between 10,000 and 24,000 Litres, although the most common models
are16,000, 18,000, 20,000, 22,000 and 24,000 Litres. Usually we choose the higher capacity
model, but always mind the density. Here you can see the most common sizes of flexi-tank by
type of product:

Sizes of flexitank No. of Liters

Flexi-tank for Glycerin transport 20,000 Litres

Flexi-tank for wine transport 24,000 Litres
Flexi-tank to transport olive oil 22,000 Litres
Flexi-tank to transport palm oil 21,000 Litres
Flexi-tank for Polyol transport 19,000 Litres
Flexi-tank for Latex transport 19,000 Litres
What liquids can be transported in a Flexitank?
• In general, it can carry any non-dangerous liquids. Below there is a non exhaustive
list of all that can be transported in a flexi-tank:

White Oils Additives Emulsions

Palm Oils Drinking water Malt extract

Ricinoleic acid Waxes Glycerols

Transformer oils Aluminum Natural latex

chlorohydroxide
Edible oils Fruit concentrates Synthetic latex

Lactic acid Detergents Lubricants

Vegetable oils Sweeteners Musts

Paraffins Polyols Sorbitol

Printing Ink Wine Non-hazardous

chemicals
Advantages of Flexitanks
The flexi-tank is a non-hazardous liquid transport system very interesting both for cost and for
environmental reasons. Its main advantages are:
• Flexi-tank vs. Iso-tank
Increased availability: the flexi-tank can be positioned anywhere in the world within days and in
any case, it is much cheaper to maintain an available stock than the Iso-tanks. Instead, Iso-tanks
must be cleaned and repositioned once used, which can not always be available.
• Best cost:
There are many routes where the Iso-tank once reaches its destination and is empty, should be
sent empty to another site because there is no return loads. The customer may not know this,
but in practice ends up paying the cost of returning empty. By using the flexi-tank, it is always
much easier to reuse a standard shipping container.
• Drums or IBCs vs. Flexi-tank :
Best cost: in a sea container with flexi-tank can get several thousand litres more than drums,
which directly affects the logistics cost.
• Ease of handling: It is much easier, cheaper and safe to handle a hose than drums or IBCs.
• Low environmental impact: The flexi-tank is made of 100% recyclable materials.
