Using Two or More Adjectives

• Sometimes you may want to use more than


one adjective before a noun. If you can say
“and” between the two adjectives, use a
comma to separate them.
Examples
• E. T. is a friendly, lovable, creature from
outer space.
• In Million-Dollar Baby, Clint Eastwood
plays a bad-tempered, tough boxing
coach.
Punctuating Sentences with Adjectives
1. Chicago is an entertaining energetic musical.

Chicago is an entertaining, energetic,


musical.
2. In It’s a Wonderful life, James Stewart plays a
friendly hard-working man.

In It’s a Wonderful life, James Stewart plays a


friendly, hard-working man.
3. Cold Mountain is a sad disturbing movie.

4. Spiderman is a compassionate mild-
mannered superhero.
