Definition
Marketing audit is a comprehensive,
systematic and independent test, and is
conducted periodically on the marketing
environment, objectives, strategic and
activities of the company or business unit, to
determine opportunities and problem areas
that occur, and recommend action plans to
improve the company's marketing

The main objective of a marketing audit is to identify marketing threats facing the company and
improvements plan that needed to eliminate these threats.

Tengah dapat memberikan gambaran betapa pentingnya pelaksanaan
audit pemasaran. Suatu ketika, perusahaan tersebut pernah menghadapi
persoalan berat berupa penurunan tingkat penjualan dan keuntungan.

Top management berpendapat bahwa penyebabnya terletak pada tenaga


penjual yang dianggap tidak bekerja keras dan kurang terampil. Untuk
itu, mereka memperkenalkan suatu sistem perangsang konpensasi baru
dan mempekerjakan pelatih tenaga penjualan untuk mendidik para pega
wai penjualan dalam bidang perniagaan dan teknik-teknik penjualan
moderen.
