What is Gypsum Plaster?

It is a white powdery slightly hydrated calcium sulfate

CaSO4·¹/₂H2O or 2CaSO4·H2O made by calcining gypsum and
used chiefly for casts and molds in the form of a quick-setting
paste with water
Why is Gypsum Plaster Used ?

It is used strictly for interior use, for hiding surface defects & for
Surface preparation, before paint application for smooth
surface finish
The ingredient in Gypsum Plaster ?

• Gypsum Plaster consist of calcium sulfate hemihydrate in

powder form
• Water is used as a Solvent—to maintain the viscosity of
Gypsum Plaster

Surface preparation for Gypsum Plaster
General requirements
Surface preparation is the most important stage of Application process. The performance of Gypsum plaster is highly
dependable on the surface preparation

Surface preparation
• Any oily material like shuttering oil should be removed
Removal of surface contaminants including • Pre-wet the wall before the application of plaster
salt deposits, fungus & mould by wire • Any holes and cracks should be repaired prior
Surface cleaning brushing. Remove grease or oil by scrubbing
to application
with detergent or caustic soda, wash well
with water & allow to dry

Sanding/Scraping Abrade the surface using sand/emery paper

Cleaning Clear off all loose particles, dust, etc.

Preparation of Gypsum mortar mix
Preparation of mix
Mix powder in water (in the ratio of 2:1 by
Ratio
weight) and not vice versa

Mixing Tools must be clean

Sanding/Scraping
Always make the material which can be used
within 10 - 15 minutes.
Mix thoroughly to make a uniform smooth
Process
lump-free paste

• Any Material not used for more than 20 minutes will solidify
• Mix Should not have any contamination whatsoever
Methodology of Plastering
Plastering
Put a mark every 4 ft. on vertical wall for
First step levelling. Use Plumb Bob to see the
vertical level
Make a reference marks for thickness by
Second step placing the strip or aluminum box on the bull
marks. Fill the gap with gypsum Plaster
Apply fresh material paste on wall with the
help of trowel. Level the material paste on
Third step
the wall with help of strip of wood or
aluminum box plate
Give a finish by using a thin mix slurry and
Fourth step apply on levelled surface with trowel for
smooth finish. Leave the wall to dry

• Coverage is 20 to 22 Sq.ft per 25 kg at a thickness of 12-14 mm

• Be sure to let the mix rest for about one minute. Mix again for about one minute, adding enough water until you get the consistency you want
Methodology of Punning
Plastering
Put a mark every 6-8 ft. on vertical wall for
First step levelling. Use Plumb Bob to see the
vertical level
Apply fresh material paste on wall with the
Second step
help of trowel
Level the material paste on the wall with help
Third step of same trovel and repeat till smoothness
is achieved
Give a finish by using a thin mix slurry and
Fourth step apply on levelled surface with trowel for
smooth finish. Leave the wall to dry

• Punning can be done even at a thickness of 3-5 mm

Some Important Tips
Conditions Solvent usage Surface

• Don’t start the job in bad weather • Don’t use contaminated • Always check the surface properly
conditions water to dilute/mix the before painting
• Ensure proper ventilation of gypsum plaster

Handling of Product Complaints
DOs DON’Ts
Meet the customer immediately. Do not waste time. Don’t be afraid or tense
Be Confident, yet humble Don’t be aggressive
Listen patiently to the customer’s complaint. Win his confidence Do not lecture the customer. He may react badly, and the situation will get worse
Make a note of the complaint in your diary Don’t behave in a casual manner
Talk respectfully to the painter/Applicator Don’t belittle the painter
Ask for all purchases documents, and make copies of the same -
Visit the Storage area & check bags. Count the number of bags to reconcile with bills Don’t forget to note the batch no and mfg date of bags
Ask the painter for details of surface preparation, dilution ratio and application process -
If you can’t solve the problem take the help of your superior Don’t take too much time to inform the customer
Check for dampness in the surface. Find out sources of water leakage -
If possible, check the moisture content of the surface with moisture meter -
If the complaint is justified, report it to your superior immediately -
If the complaint is not justified, explain clearly to the customer Don’t be aggressive, show him your logical findings.
If required, do a trial with fresh sample in front of the customer & painter Don’t forget to convince the painter
You must win over both the Customer and the Applicator -
Handling of Product Complaints

Benefits Of JK Super Plast
Cost Effective JK Super Plast can replace one coat of sand cement
plaster, leading to considerable savings due to reduced labour and Water Saving: Conventional plastering methods require curing of
material costs. Its silky smooth finish post drying reduces the sand cement walls during the application, whereas, JK Super Plast
consumption of putty / paint. This also therefore, leads to is self-setting
reduction in labour cost of overall paint application

High Strength Gypsum as a raw material inherently has high

Dazzling whiteness: The whiteness of JK Super Plast
transverse strength, hence JK super Plast is very strong by virtue, in
is greater than 75%
terms of bonding

Cracks Resistant JK Super Plast does not shrink or expand post Silky Smooth Finish: JK Super Plast is a premium gypsum plaster
application/drying due to its inherent character, thus avoiding with β- Hemihydrate. Its state of the art manufacturing technology
shrinkage cracks ensures silk-like finish of walls and ceilings

Exceptional Coverage Special additives mixed during the

manufacturing process lowers the overall density of JK Super Plast,
resulting in higher coverage
