Sunil Handa
 Sunil Handa is the chairman and founder of the Eklavya
Education Foundation.
 He is also Visiting faculty at the Indian Institute of
Management, Ahmedabad where has been teaching a course
called Laboratory in Entrepreneurial Motivation (LEM) for the
last 19 years.
 Sunil founded Core Healthcare Ltd with his brother
 Also founded the Eklavya School in Ahmedabad.
 Sunil has done his BE form BITS Pilani and his MBA from the
Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
Sunil’s life milestone
 45% in class X
 graduated from HPS as one of the top ICSE students in India
 admission in BITS Pilani
 In the fourth year-at BITS, researched a lot of literature and
identified one idea called Honeycomb Collectors- wrote a paper
on the findings
 published in an international conference in Italy – at the
International Centre for Theoretical Physics
 wanted to do a PhD in Thyristors
 CAT exam in 1977 and Sunil was 13th on the wait list for IIMA
 summer training – NTPC (coal pithead power station)
 After IIM-A, joind with FAIR (Foundation to Aid Industrial
Recovery’ )
 concept of FAIR was to take a sick industrial unit from a bank,
put a young MBA in charge as the chief executive and turn
around the company in two years, retaining all the existing
employees.
 Sunil's brother Sushil was running a management consultancy in
Ahmedabad – gave offer to join with him.
 Establishment of Core Consultancy Services. A couple of
months afterwards, it became ‘Core Consultants Pvt Ltd’(1981)
 1985- Gujarat riots- set up the factory
 One year later, the IV fluid factory Core Parenterals Ltd came
in to being, Core Parenterals was a Rs 600 crore company
with five huge factories.
 CEO of Core Emballage, a company which manufactures
corrugated board
 Biggest weakness in the IV plant was that the containers were
very bad.
 Separation of two brothers- led him into depression.
 idea of Eklavya school was born(1996)
Motivation- become Entrepreneur
 Course at IIM-A, ERI (Explorations in Role and Identity)
 participated in an exercise with Prof Pulin Garg and Indira
Parikh.

Advise to young Entrepreneurs
 There are 3 or 4 types of jobs which are good

1. You are the chief executive of a closed sick unit

2. Executive assistant to the top one or two persons in a
medium sized company
3. Be a vital part of a project team which is putting up a new
project

thrive, they survive. Even under adverse
conditions they grow.”

 On starting a venture
- balance between business and life
- though business fails, gains experience

 Perseverance, Struggle, Humility is what it takes

no shame in pursuing for what you believe in. And if rejected
for the first time go for the second, the third or as many times
as it takes to convince your buyer. This is what is required to
establish a business. If you think everything will just go right,
it won’t. You need to make it right.

Keep habit of reading-always keep the habit of reading and be
knowledgeable about things related directly or indirectly or not
even related to his business

wherein the product is common but how certain differentiation
in the manufacturing process help you make huge profits
 Overcome the fear of a venture turning sour or an already
failed venture
Nobody but you can help yourself Be objective, logical and
practical about your idea and do not get emotionally attached to
it. Unless until you decide to take the first step nobody can help
you.
