TECHNOLOGIES USED IN HOUSING PROJECTS

• Pre-stressed Precast Prefab Technology using Hollow Core members


construction product produced by casting concrete in a reusable mold
or "form" which is then cured in a controlled environment, transported
to the construction site and lifted into place ("tilt up"). In contrast,
standard concrete is poured into site-specific forms and cured on site.
Precast stone is distinguished from precast concrete using a fine
aggregate in the mixture, so the final product approaches the
appearance of naturally occurring rock or stone. More recently
expanded polystyrene is being used as the cores to precast wall panels.
This is lightweight and has better thermal insulation.
• LIGHT GAUGE STEEL CONSTRUCTION
• Light gauge steel construction is very similar to wood framed
construction in principle - the wooden framing members are replaced
with thin steel sections. The steel sections used here are called cold
formed sections, meaning that the sections are formed, or given
shape at room temperature. This is in contrast to thicker hot rolled
sections, that are shaped while the steel is molten hot. Cold formed
steel is shaped by guiding thin sheets of steel through a series of
rollers, each roller changing the shape very slightly, with the net result
of converting a flat sheet of steel into a C or S-shaped section.
• GFRG (Glass Fiber Reinforced Gypsum)
his included gypsum plaster reinforced with glass fibers to produce a thin,lightweight, yet strong material.

• Flame Resistant
• GFRG is a mineral and will not burn. In addition, the nature of gypsum acts like a thermal regulator when exposed to flame. GFRG not only
will not burn, but it also protects the materials behind it from the heat of the flame for up to two hours.
• Easy Installation
• GFRG is relatively light in weight compared to traditional stone or plaster ornaments. Its installation is quick and relatively easy.
• Selection
• GFRG can be cast to virtually any shape.
• Finish
• GFRG is available in a white color and is easily finished with virtually any paint.

TYPES OF HOUSING PROJECT
• Public housing
Public housing is owned and run by a local housing authority. If you live
in public housing, the housing authority is your landlord.

• Vouchers
A voucher is rental assistance to help people find an apartment in the
private market. This is also called a tenant-based subsidy because the
subsidy stays with the tenant, not a particular development.
Sometimes the rental assistance may be issued for, or temporarily stay
with, the housing development, but the tenant may be free to move
with the subsidy in the future. See the discussion of project-based
vouchers and enhanced vouchers, below.
• Multifamily Subsidized Housing
Multifamily subsidized housing is owned by a private landlord or
corporation that has received government subsidies to provide
affordable housing. This is also called a project-based subsidy because
the subsidy stays with the housing development (project), not a
particular tenant. Often, affordable apartments are in the same
development as market-rate apartments.
