organophosphate is present in Cagayan River • To measure the amount of organophosphate present in Cagayan River especially in its principal tributaries namely Pinacanauan, Chico, Siffu, Mallig, Magat and Ilagan Rivers OBJECTIVES
• To determine the levels of changes in
AChE activity in the soft body tissues of clams collected in the six tributaries of Cagayan River • To determine the significant effect of the level of Organophosphates in the Cagayan river to the changes in AChE activity of the clam LOCALE OF THE STUDY
Data gathering and conduct of the
study is to be done in six sites which are the major tributaries of Cagayan River. MAJOR TRIBUTARIES OF CAGAYAN RIVER SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS
The study is limited to monitoring
surface water quality using in situ parameters including temperature, pH, salinity and dissolved oxygen. SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
The present work will provide some necessary data
that could be the basis for the use of the clam C. fluminea AChE activity for environmental monitoring in the region. This study will also be the first to detect concentrations of selected organophosphates in the six tributaries of Cagayan River.
