BCI-SSVEP

BCI-INTRODUCTION

 Signals from the brain are acquired by electrodes on the scalp or in the
head and processed to extract specific signal features (e.g. amplitudes
of evoked potentials ) that reflect the user’s intent.
 These features are translated into commands that operate a device
(e.g. a simple word processing program or a wheelchair).
 Success of BCI operation depends on the interaction of two adaptive
controllers, user and system. The user must develop and maintain good
correlation between his or her intent and the signal features employed
by the BCI.
 BCI must select and extract features that the user can control and must
translate those features into device commands correctly and efficiently.

 Types of BCI
 Invasive BCI Eg: ECoG based BCI.
 Partially invasive BCI
 Non invasive BCI Eg: EEG based BCI.
 Cell culture BCI
 Other types:
 Active BCI
 Reactive BCI

Abstract: BCI-SSVEP
 Generally evoked potentials are divided into transient(of the order
of <2Hz) and steady state(of the order of >6Hz)in which each can
be used for visual stimuli as well as auditory stimuli.
 SSVEP- Steady State Visually Evoked Potentials.
 The main objective of this project is to take the stimulus generated
from the brain to direct the movement of a vehicle (to control any
object of interest)under 4 conditions:
 START
 STOP
 LEFT
 RIGHT
