What Is Transport Phenomena

Transport phenomena deals with the movement of various

entities such as mass, momentum or energy in a medium
(fluid/solid) due to a difference in concentration of these
entities throughout the medium.

• Mass (Mass Transfer)

• Energy (Heat Transfer)
• Momentum (Fluid Dynamics)
How does this transport Occur ?

When there is a difference in concentration of the property a

net transport occurs the difference in concentration can be
viewed as a driving force which causes the motion.
