Importance of Teacher- Student
communication
• Good communication skills strengthen the relationship
among the students and teachers by improving the level
of understanding among teacher and students (Loss,
2000).
• Effective teaching not only depends upon the
knowledge base of the teacher but also it is related with
method and style of teacher communication skills
(Khan, Khan, Islam & khan,2017).
• Good communication skills not only important for
teacher but it is also important for students for their
academic success (Sng Bee 2012).
Strategies for teacher in improving
communication
• Communicate Regularly
• Clarity in Communication
• Keep an Open-Door Policy- Consistent
communication and open dialogue require regular
access.
• Offer Opportunities for Feedback
• Set Objectives-Communication is good, but
communication with a purpose is better.
• Establish Trust

• Encourage them to speak their minds
Teacher’s Approach
• Get to know the students by name as quickly
as possible.
• Get to know some personal things about each
student.
• Conduct a values analysis discussion about
some current event or topic.
• Provide positive comments when appropriate.
• Be positive and enthusiastic when teaching.

in them but also that you care about them.
• Avoid the use of threats and punishment.
• Do not play favorites.
• Create a supportive classroom environment.
• Create an environment where questions and
answers-even wrong answers-are encouraged
and valued.
Steps for Improving Student
Communication Skills
1. Establish the ground rules and norms for class
discussion early on. By setting the standards
for class participation as early as possible,
your students will be more likely to
understand their role in discussion.
2. Encourage all students to participate in class
discussion. Avoid focusing on the students
that are always willing to answer.

3. Assign frequent opportunities for small group
discussion.
4. Adopt a policy of openness with your students.
When you make a change to the class structure, or
give an assignment, be open with your students
about your intentions, and seek their feedback.
Student’s Approach
• Communication skills help students to learn
more from teachers
• Positive behaviors will lead to effective
communication between teacher and students.
• students online communication should be
improved. If they are not effective in emails,
tweets, and social engagement then it will be a
barrier in communication.
