Definitions-

•Encephalitis is a infection & inflammation of


the brain
•And it is mainly caused by viruses
• It is serious and fatal condition
•The most common cause virus is herpes
simplex virus
•Meningitis with Encephalitis = meningo
encephalitis

•Viruses like -Arbovirus , Entero viruses, herpes

•Bacteria - streptococcus , h.influeza, N.gonococus,


Meningococus

• Fungal infection - afpergillus , Candida , Albican

1. Epedemic Encephalitis: this type of
encephalitis caused by biting of any mosquitoes
2. Non Epidemic encephalitis : this type is seen
in measles, mumps, chickenpox
3. Cytomegalo encephalitis: this type is seen in
patients having ,HIV,AIDS, OR any viral infection
OR parasites infection
PATHOPHYSIOLOGY OF
ENCEPHALITIS
Due to Etiological factors

Organism enter blood stream to brain

Because of the virus transmitted to brain tissue which


cause inflammatory process

Spread to cerebral cortex white matter meninger

white matter and demyelination of axon

Development of small lacnase within the cerebral


hemispheres

Wide spread edema cause compression of blood


vessels

Incresed intra cranial pressure herniation death
