illegal means.
 Obtain contract for a project without to follow the normal
procedures.
 The applicant may bribe the officers in order to skip these
procedures.
 Bribes are offered to receive priority benefits over other
applicants.

 If a country is infamous for its corruption practices, the investors will
have to factor in these additional costs

 This can be a major turn-off for investors as there is a lack of
transparency and deals made are not based on merits.
 Corruption can demoralize personal trust among citizens.
 Lead to a vicious cycle where it creates inequality and injustice to the
poorer segments of society.

injustice committed.

weaken.

 This distrust can lead to political instability because anti-
government movements may emerge to oust elected
representatives before their term expires.

 It is damaging to a country.
 Decisions are taken not for the public benefit but to serve private
interests.
 Build civic consciousness towards the issue of corruption that has
been affecting the growth of the nation.
 Citizens with politically conscious is fundamentally sensitive towards the
need for appropriate governance in the country.

 In recent years, the level of civic consciousness towards the Malaysian

politics has been rising.

 The use of social media in political campaigns and also mass gathering of
the public to attend talks by politicians has heightened the political
awareness of many Malaysians.

 Malaysians are seeking better governance of national policies as well as

transparency and accountability at all levels of administration in the country.

 (2018 Nov 21), a shopper berating a beer promoter for giving out beer samples in the
alcohol section of a hypermarket
 As the promoter was about to defend herself in English, he criticized her and insisted
that she speak in Bahasa Melayu because this is "Bumi Melayu".
 The man then made an obscene hand gesture and spewed vulgarities at her before
walking away.
 The shopper violate the Section 298A of the Penal Code (for causing disharmony,
disunity, or feelings of enmity) and Section 4(1)(b) of the Sedition Act 1948 (for
uttering seditious words).
